The COVID-19 Effect
IN LIEU OF OUR MONTHLY NEWSLETTER...

Dear ACME Community,

Each of us are acutely aware that COVID-19 is impacting our personal and professional lives in ways we didn’t imagine just a few weeks ago.We are living real-time through an unprecedented event that is unfolding daily.

While the duration and scale of the crisis and its impact are unknown, we believe this exogenous shock to the status quo has the potential to fundamentally change the trajectory of governments, economies, and businesses globally and catalyze material innovation that will have far-reaching implications.

If there is one thing COVID-19 has exposed, it is the fragility of our economy and the vulnerability of our current systems and institutions. We remain optimistic about the future, but are also accepting that some things won’t return to the way they were.

As investors, our natural inclination is to scenario map. We start at the far end of the spectrum and work backward, thinking about how timing and probability will impact potential outcomes and influence our investment theses.

We have started to record some of our early thinking on what Behavorial, Technology and Infrastructure systems that may underscore the post-COVID-19 future. These ideas are not strategy; they are simply a series of questions meant to serve as food for thought as we navigate this suspended state of uncertainty.

We will continue to update this as our thinking evolves in parallel with the rapidly changing situation and welcome any reactions and thoughts you might have.

OUR COMMUNITY
#HEARTLOCAL INITIATIVE

During this unprecedented time, when so much feels out of our control, we have to show up for one another.

The mass disruption to daily life caused by COVID-19 has had a particularly devastating impact on local businesses and service providers.

We wanted to find a way to support these independent entrepreneurs who are so critical to our communities, so we’ve started an initiative we are calling #heartlocal. ACME has given each member of our team a #heartlocal allowance to be spent supporting local businesses and service providers - local restaurants, barbers, dog walkers, childcare providers, and housekeepers - even if we are unable to use their services at this time.

We are sharing here in hopes that it might inspire others to find similar ways to support and drive awareness for #heartlocal  in this critical time of need.
