Ipsy acquires rival BoxyCharm Inc.

Ipsy and BoxyCharm will operate as seperate brands in a merged company called BFA (Beauty for All) Industries; the combined business will generate over $1 billion in revenue this year. Bloomberg

Shortly after the acquisition, IPSY annouced it is expanding its private-label business with the launch of a new personal care brand called Refresh. 

Airbnb has filed for a $1 billion initial public offering, which is expected to price in December. The company emphasized its commitment to community and says that its ability to quickly rebound from the impact of COVID-19 demonstrates the company's resiliency.

This follows the company’s announcement that it had made its telehealth services available to 33 million Medicare Part B beneficiaries. The company has reported seeing a  significant number of seniors turn to virtual care during the pandemic. MedCityNews

California voters approved Prop. 22, which exempts companies such as Uber and Lyft from having to classify their workers as employees, thereby allowing drivers to maintain flexibility and the ability to set their own hours. TheVerge

Didi Chuxing used data gathered from its 550 million registered passengers and 31 million drivers to design the first electric vehicle designed exclusively for ride-hailing. The D1 car is being produced in partnership with BYD, one of China’s leading EV manufacturers. Bloomberg

Rent the Runway announced it will allow its members to purchase any item on its site, whether or not they have rented it. This e-commerce option will become available to shoppers without a Rent the Runway subscription in the first half of 2021. The Wall Street Journal
